Last week I was able to buy a monumental painting of Amsterdam (Damrak). It was made in 1934 by Frans Langeveld, a well known Dutch painter from the “Larense School”. The impressive dimensions are 60 by 100 cm.
I was informed by an art agent that this painting came up for sale in a fairly unknown art auction abroad. As not many others had seen this opportunity, I was able to buy it at a reasonable price and for sure less expensive than when auctioned at say Christies.com.
And, above all, a Dutch piece of culture returns home !
